Getting back in the swing of it
I’ve had a kind of a rough year and haven’t had much time or energy to get back into painting or anything creative, really. When life issues strike, I would have thought that I’d want to paint more – but it wasn’t the case. It was more like, the creative things I loved to do […]
Like to see my work in progress? Come over to FaceBook and say hi! www.facebook.com/cmcouling Here are some of the things I’ve been working on for the past few weeks. I’ve done some ceramics, ATCS, an illustration and some microscope slides. I’ve been trying to use up supplies before buying more, and I have discovered […]
I’ve been ignoring my blog lately. But, I’ve been working on projects the whole time. Here’s a selection of some things I’ve been doing. A couple ATCs. One was for a friend’s family member who she sends copies of my cards to. She loves collecting them, and I thought it would be nice to make […]
I’ve been super busy with work, so not alot of time to create right now. Here are a couple ATCs I did over the past couple of weeks.
Set of 5 aceos / atcs. Found these in an envelope. Guess I forgot about them. Glad I found them again.
A couple of ATCs drawn with Copic markers and colored with watercolors.
Colored versions of the black and white ACEO cards I posted a few days ago.
Some black and white ATCs done over the holidays. The ‘Many Tears’ card was done after my dog Luna passed away on Christmas Eve. The rest are mostly doodles I did to keep my mind off of it. Art Saves. 😉 I’m working on painting the color onto these. Will post the color ones soon.
A few more ATCs / ACEOs I finished. All of these were done on reclaimed / recycled card stock. Some of them have words from the advertising still on them. One is painted on a piece of heavy cereal box paper. The black and blue cards, I used a white sharpie poster paint pen for […]
Here are a set of 9 ATC journal cards colorized and scanned. Some are done on 140lb. watercolor paper and some are done on recycled card stock I cut up.
I went crazy and doodled a whole pile of ATCs this week. Some are done on old postcards I chopped up. Next I’ll work on coloring them with watercolors. I’ll post the finals when they are done.
4 more Copic ATC doodles just completed. I’m going to work on a line of illustrations for note cards (Celebrate, Thanks etc.) Celebrate is the first.
Three more ATCs done with a Copic marker (brush end). Colorized with watercolor.
I got a couple Copic markers recently and I was playing around with the brush end of them. (The Copic markers have two ends, one soft and fluid like a brush and the other chiseled and hard.) I like the way the brush allows a thick and thin line depending on how much pressure you […]
Just listed a Day of the Dead skull ATC on eBay. This is a hand colored linoleum block print. I carved the block, printed it and then went back in with watercolors.
I did a quick lino carving in ATC size last weekend. I printed these with a Staze-on ink pad, let them dry and then went back in and hand colored with some bright Windsor watercolors. Here’s a little more about block printing, (although these were produced with a simple ink pad).
Journal cards in black and white before they are colorized with watercolors. I usually make several and then colorize them all at once.
2 Visual Journal Cards. I drew these quite awhile ago, but only just got around to painting them. The card ‘Honestly’ was in reaction to a friend losing a long loved dog. The dog was really old (17 years) and the last time she came over to play with our own dog she’d seriously gone […]
Three mixed media Artist Trading Cards. I used collage, and acrylic paints as well as colored pencils and embellishments. Images are from ArtChix Studios
I recently made an ATC envelope template for a swap I am in and thought I’d post it for others to use. The sixe is 8.5X14″ (legal paper size). I printed directly onto cut pieces of scrapbooking paper and ran it through my inkjet and then trimmed and glued. Enjoy!
