Several months ago one of my Facebook friends forwarded a post that they’d received on their feed. It was piece of my artwork that had been shared on a page called ‘Hippie Peace Freaks’. I was astounded to see that it had been viewed 13,000 times and shared 10,821 times as of last count. There […]
A few weeks ago I spent a long weekend in Sacramento, CA getting certified for using Copic Markers. This was something I wanted to do for a long time and now I am thrilled to say I’m standard and intermediate certified. 🙂 We learned some terrific techniques that I can’t wait to share with other […]
I was really fortunate to be included in an article about the Olive Hyde Gallery’s Holiday for the Art Show that happened on December 4-6th, 2015. This is my absolute favorite show to participate in and look forward to it yearly. Read the entire article: Tri-City Voice – Olive Hyde Gallery Holiday for the Arts!
We spent the day doing 3 raku firings today. It was alot of fun, but also alot of work! Raku firing requires some planning and coordination, so it’s best to plan ahead. Decide the order you want to fire in depending on the types of glazes or raku firing techniques you plan to use. It’s […]
Opening the kiln is just like Christmas morning. It’s always a surprise, (and sometimes can also be a little disappointing.). It’s the anticipation. It often takes an entire day for the kiln to fire to temperature and then another day for it to cool down until it’s safe to open it. I always have to […]
Like to see my work in progress?Come over to FaceBook and say hi: www.facebook.com/cmcouling I took a lengthy leave from my blog. Life and work have been busy and I’ve learned I just can’t do it all. I am pretty active on FaceBook and I am starting to wonder if a blog is even necessary […]
It’s been busy! I’ve been working on some pages over the past few weeks and I am posting a bunch of items for you guys to look at. Some incorporate some of my prints and others incorporate a new technique I’ve been playing with using packing tape.
“Big Hair Day” by Cindy Couling A few months ago I was approached by an author to use a photo of one of my ceramic pieces on her book cover. I thought, well, that’s cool! I sent her an image to use. Yesterday, I got a copy of the book in the mail. It was […]
Here’s a fun journal page I worked on last night. Mixed media, collage and paints with copic pens.
Well, looking better! At least I have a surface to work on. I went to OSH and got some organizer baskets so I can keep things in one place instead of spread or stacked on the desk. Next, work on priming pages in this journal you see.
OK, when there’s no room on the art table to make art you know it’s time to clean. My goal this weekend is to make some room on my desk so I can work on the big blank book that’s right on the top there. Problem is, all these supplies are essential. Hmm. OK, weell, […]
Some pics of the Holiday Show at Higher Fire. They did a really nice job of setting people’s work up I think. The space is open and bright.
This is the revised sketch for the Pittsburg Seafood Festival logo I am creating for this year’s celebration. It incorporates a lot of elements from the downtown area and specific items from the festival. Just waiting for approval before I do the final drawing and color it. Then the type will need to be added. […]
I had to turn on moderation on messages due to some very annoying spammers. Sorry guys. Spammers suck.
First post of the year. I’ve been busy, what can I say. 🙂 These are a couple photos of my work that is in a gallery boutique in Campbell, CA. I’ve been there about a month and stopping over tomorrow to restock. There are alot of great artists displaying. From glass, to cards and jewelry. […]
Hi guys! I hope everyone isn’t completely sick of me asking to vote for my card! *LOL* (Apologies if I am.) If you have a sec and you think this piece is cool – I sure would appreciate a vote. 🙂 Please vote! Click here to vote for my entry Follow Up 11/19/09 – Hey! […]
I’ve been working on clay Sugar Skulls. My husband and I hand molded the skulls, and they were bisque fired. Once out of the kiln I draw on all the line work. They will be fired again to make the black permanent, and then coated with transparent glaze and fired one more time. I hope […]
I was recently in Art Calendar Magazine – the November 2008 issue. Check it out and let me know what you think!
I just found this video for Caribba Rum on YouTube. If you wait until the final frames, you can see some of my illustrations I did for them. It was a nice surprise to see them in the TV ad!
Oh! Here’s a picture of the raised bed we put in this weekend. It’s artistic in its own way and merits an entry! *lol* This was the third of four backbreaking tiers of bricks. We had to dig down about 8 inches, pour gravel and sand and hand place each of the brick and glue […]
